Philips HF3650/60 vs Lumie Luxe 700FM: Which Fits Your Week?

Suppose you want to wake at 07:00 on workdays and 09:00 on weekends. Those are example times, not factory presets. Lumie Bodyclock Luxe 700FM can assign a time or no alarm to each day of the week in WEEKLY mode. Philips SmartSleep HF3650/60 stores two profiles that repeat daily until disabled; it does not select them by weekday.

Choose Lumie when saved day-by-day times are essential. Choose Philips when two daily profiles fit and its evening functions, Midnight Light or limited backup beep address another requirement. Both keep alarm settings on the device.

Choose the schedule before the sound library

Luxe is the clearer fit when a normal week contains different wake times or days off. Set each day once, select WEEKLY, and inspect the next alarm shown. Its DAILY mode behaves differently: the owner activates the alarm before bed.

Philips makes sense when two daily profiles match your needs and you accept managing which is enabled. Two stored times are useful, but they do not create private wake signals or an automatic weekend rule. If a changing calendar is essential, extra evening features will not replace it.

Buy for the audio source that actually starts the alarm

A phone connection answers a listening question. It does not establish a scheduled music alarm. Philips explicitly excludes AUX audio from waking; Lumie lists OFF, RADIO, and SOUND under ALARM SRC, separately from Bluetooth playback.

If you want a podcast at bedtime, consider those playback connections. If you want tomorrow’s wake signal, choose a documented internal source or FM station and check it at the bedside. Neither connection justifies promising a Spotify or phone-playlist alarm.

Try the dark-room controls and the stopping action

Both can hide the clock face, but the settings differ. Lumie’s OFF option follows room darkness; tapping the lamp briefly reveals the time. Philips provides display timeout, with the menu revealed by bringing a hand near it. A dark display does not switch off the scheduled sunrise.

Philips adds a dedicated Midnight Light. Lumie’s low-blue bedside-light option belongs to a different control sequence. Philips snooze keeps the lamp on while muting sound for nine minutes. Luxe’s manual says tapping the dome or a preset snoozes; the sunrise and any alarm audio repeat after nine minutes. To dismiss Luxe, press the alarm button or either dial, then turn the right dial to extinguish the light. Rehearse the matching controls while awake.

Keep the outage requirement separate from the sunrise

The Philips manual documents temporary internal-clock and backup-alarm support, with an approximately 30-second beep if the set time arrives during an outage. Normal light and display operation are unavailable in that state. Lumie’s retained time and settings do not establish the same fallback.

Choose Philips if that documented beep meets your requirement; choose another independently powered arrangement if a brief beep is insufficient. Choose Luxe when local weekly control matters more than that fallback. A shared bedroom still needs a placement check: neither clock confines its sunrise to one side of a bed.

Questions before choosing the exact model

Can Luxe skip one upcoming alarm without deleting the whole week?

Its manual describes cancelling an alarm with the alarm button. In WEEKLY mode, the next alarm time appears after the cancelled time passes. Check that next event; DAILY mode still requires activation before bed.

Does Philips snooze switch off the sunrise lamp?

No. The linked manual says the lamp stays on while sound is muted, then sound returns after nine minutes. Dismissal is a separate action, with a setting controlling whether light remains afterward.

Is Luxe 750DAB documentation interchangeable with this US 700FM?

No. Match NBCLA-F700 and the North American 700FM instructions. Do not add DAB radio, USB, or AUX functions from a different Luxe model. Philips must likewise match HF3650/60, rather than the connected HF3670.

Should I select the longer sunrise just because it is available?

Only if that timing serves your routine and room. Check when light starts, when the final cue arrives, and whether another sleeper is affected. A wider adjustment range does not establish better waking results.
